In October 2005, Andrea Grant joined Telstra as the Group Managing Director Human Resources, at a time of significant change for Telstra.

Andrea Grant joined Telstra from GM Holden, where she held the role of Executive Director of HR since 2001. She also served as GM Holden’s first female board member.

Telstra continues its five-year strategy with a focus on improving the customer experience. In order to succeed, Telstra’s strategic goals are touching every part of its business – its networks, systems, products, and customer segmentation, as well as its people and culture. This is one of the biggest and most complex transformations ever seen in corporate Australia.

Andrea’s expertise in large scale organisational change combined with 20 years HR experience has enabled her to execute a comprehensive HR strategy to drive fundamental change in Telstra’s Human Resources.

Prior to joining GM Holden, Andrea was the Human Resources Director of Merck, Sharp and Dohme (New Zealand) Ltd. Over her career, she has worked in senior HR roles across the finance, pharmaceutical, automotive and telecommunication industries.

In 2003, Andrea was awarded ‘Australian HR Director of the Year’ at the Australian HR awards, and was named as the Equal Opportunity for Women Agency’s ‘Diversity Leader of the Year’ in 2004.

Andrea holds a Bachelor of Education and a Post-Graduate Diploma in teaching. She is also a Graduate of the London Business School’s Advanced Development Program.
